Extend the Kingdom
Making Christ known through local and global missions.
Beyond the Walls Weekend:  On one weekend a year, members of Covenant collectively go "beyond the walls" of the church to be a blessing to our community and the world. On Saturday, teams of Covenant members work with local ministries on needed projects, including Habitat for Humanity, Casey Elementary, Southern Christian Services, and We Will Go. Food packages are assembled on Sunday morning for those in need all over the world through Stop Hunger Now.

Casey Elementary:  Covenant is an adopter of Casey Elementary School, located right across the street from our church home! Our active ministry in supporting this Jackson Public School includes volunteering as weekly Book Buddies and tutors, as well as filling in for special opportunities. Make a difference in a child's life in our own neighborhood.

Habitat for Humanity Home Construction:  Every fall, Covenant helps fund and participates in the construction of a Habitat home for a deserving family in the Jackson area. With the work being done on Saturdays, projects usually take six to eight weeks, giving participants an opportunity to try all aspects of construction, as well as work alongside volunteers from other churches and organizations. New Hope Baptist Church has been our long-time partner in Habitat projects.

Knit Wits:  Knit Wits is where the gifted in hand-crafts unite! In addition to being a wonderfully eclectic mix of members, the Knit Wits use their skills to knit caps as a ministry outreach to those who need a warm head covering. Knit Wits meets the second Monday of the month from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Knit Wits' work is seen on many of God's precious heads, from cancer patients to children in foreign countries. Join this fun group and "get knitting"!

Meals on Wheels:  Meals on Wheels is a ministry on the move! Covenant participates with other churches to provide meals throughout the city.

Covenant prepares and delivers 24 meals four times each month (first Tuesday, third Thursday, and second and fourth Saturdays). Cooks and drivers work in pairs. Cooks are given menus for their cook time and reimbursed for their expenses. Drive time is approximately one hour, fifteen minutes, and four drivers are needed each time (two for each route). Directions are given for each route and recipients eargerly await their lunch when you arrive!

Drivers and cooks are always needed! It is an opportunity to fill a real need. We are looking for a few more cooks and for people to serve as substitute drivers - by that we mean, just riding with more experienced "MOW" drivers. It is a wonderful way to learn more about the program. Please join us!

Missions Prayer Time:  Before Sunday School and Worship on the third Sunday of every  month, members gather in the Parlor to pray for the missionaries and ministries supported by Covenant. Prayer is powerful. This is an important way for us to provide support and to participate in the work of the Kingdom of God. Everyone is welcome.

Mission Trips:  Short-term mission trips are an excellent way to serve the needs of others, experience the wonders of other lands and cultures, expand your vision of God's kingdom by working and worshiping with brothers and sisters in Christ from all parts of the world, and to grow in your faith! In recent years, many mission trips have been made to Honduras, Kenya, Northern Ireland, and Austria. In each location, we have established a close long-term relationship with a local Christian organization which directs the elements of the trip. We hope that you will consider joining us. If in doubt, talk to someone that has been on a short-term mission trip. It's a life changing experience!

Volunteers are needed to provide items for the sale, and to serve in set-up, customer care, and clean-up during the event.
